Merry Christmas

Happily enjoying the end of the holiday.
It has been a time of gratitude for
family and friends.  And even though
we are not all together, I feel the love..
and I know they feel it too.

Pinterest addiction

OH MY GOSH.
Besides getting lots of rest, eating to
much sugar and enjoying being with
the dude.  I have been on pinterest for
hours.  I love it...so cool.  I love pinning
as much as finding pins.  This is absolutely
the best place for inspiration.  Here is a
picture I found this morning.
 O.K. so
here is the beautiful part.  I tried to upload
the image from pinterest and it was really tiny.
I was able to follow the trail of the original
source which turned out to be from here
But post a year ago.
 look..
now a nice big, clear picture.

Home sweet home

It is a mellow holiday around here.
I am in Kirkland for the next
two week.  The  dude and I
have done a little decorating.
Plus a few of the things I love
in our home.

I took a few pictures on my iphone
with the hipstamatic app

Holiday Party

We have already had our Holiday Party
at Bunnies.  My sister and I decorate
the lunchroom.  And make the food.
This year....my daughter did all the cooking.
Felt great to delegate.

Ashely is our new, social Networking genius.
Look at what a great job she did.
I didn't realize anyone was even taking pictures!

It's Merry at Bunnies

I went to our Bunnies Facebook and
found all these great holiday pictures.
Look at all these happy babies.

 And we have bunnies.
This has always been one of my favorites.

Home again

We made it home.
Whew.
New York at Christmas is pretty cool.
Also, really busy and crowded.
The weather was beautiful, sunny and not
all that chilly.  People were eating lunch outside.
We walked into Macy's...and right out again.
It was crazy and frantic.
Three years ago...we decided not to exchange gifts.
It is so amazing how it releases all the tension of trying to find
the perfect gift.  We enjoy the holidays without all the
headache of shopping.  We will get Sam presents, because
Christmas is all about children.  Adults...we have everything
we need.  So we will spend time together, eat, chill and just
enjoy family time.
Here are a few
Pictures from NY.

Rockefeller Center

Chelsea market

Store windows

 Sephora

This is all paper cuts!

New York at Christmas time

We are in New York on Bunny business. Stopping in on our FAO Schwartz store and visiting our new apparel licencing partners. Our hotel is right in the middle of time square.

By the side of the road

I found this by the side of the road.
A cute little wagon full of beautiful handmade
wreaths.  An honor system to pay.

And the field was full of snow geese.
Amazing and beautiful...
Loving winter right now.

We are global!

Curmudgeon...ok, yes that's me

I was recently referred to as a...

CURMUDGEON

Definition:
A bad tempered or surly person.
surly:
Irritably sullen and churlish.
churlish:
A lack of civility
Civility:
A polite act.
basically
a cranky, crabby,
whiney, sourpuss

I like the following explanation better.

A curmudgeon's reputation for malevolence is
undeserved.  We don't hate mankind,
just mankind's absurdities.  We are just
as sensitive as the next person, but hide
our vulnerability beneath a crust of misanthropy,
(distrust of humankind).  We ease the pain by
turning hurt to humor. Nature has endowed us
with astute perception and sly wit.  We have our
version of the truth which unsettles some, even
though we soften it with humor.

Here are some other
curmudgeons.

What this is all in reference to was
the recent show I did in Tustin.
Doing a show on the road is
a lot of work.
The traveling, setting up,
selling, taking down, being
nice for hours on end.  Repeating yourself
over and over....basically selling a little piece
of yourself.
For me, I do that with my art.
Here you go...I made this for you...
now can I go back to my studio and
do what I love...which is create.
I don't know about other artists
but for me...It is hard to stand there
and sell, me.
Plus physically, I feel tired and old!!!!
My mantra is
"I am to old for this!"
Meaning...can't I just make stuff
and someone else sell it?

Oh Yeah,
That is why
Bunnies By The Bay exists.
I have surrounded myself with
people who do all that.
They are good at it, experts...
and they like selling and organizing
and running spread sheets as much
as I like sewing and drawing.

But this need to have an identity
and self expression outside of bunnies
has led me to selling my own art.
It is like starting over at 56 and being
all alone without my sisters there to protect me.
(Or as they would say protect others from me.)

I did meet some really nice people, and I love all my
earth angle girls.  We had fun, can't wait to do it
all again.  But in the moment standing all day on
a concrete floor...the
CURMUDGEON comes out in me.
Not to the customers and nice, nice people who
come out to see us, just to my fellow artists.

My reward at the end of the day

An Ale...makes that pissy part of me
disappear and I can have fun and laugh at
life and myself.  I will never stop being
honest, and truthful...but I'll work on
my filter system.  In the meantime
I am happy to be home and grateful
to those who understand and love me anyways.

Do you have a curmudgeon in your life?

One of my favorites

This is Toots Red Boots.
She is a prototype made by me
for our last line of bunnies.
The line never got produced.
And her boots are vintage.

I took a silk flower making class in San Francisco.
So here is some of that handiwork adapted to
Her straw hat.

I embroidered this little ladybug leaving a trail.

Close-up of french ribbon flowers and buds.

Cutest little red vintage rubber boots.
They fit her mohair feet perfectly.

Too much stompin!
Toots Red Boots pops a button every time
it rains- please repair my collar...
and when it rains, holler-holler at her!

This is a new tag we made.  Grams
mending shop, fixes all the bunnies
tears and wipes up the tears.
She is for sale, call Cory
in our retail shop for details.

Still Busy

I am still busy.
I love making snowmen.

This is an 8x8
New style,
collaged, brighter, I like it.

 detail

I like this one, because it's funny.
Don't you love to tease your sister.
I do.

What is funny about this...
is my sister is my mom's
favorite.  It's o.k.
she is a lovely person and
easy to love.  I am a pain in the
ass...I am embracing it!!!!

Little detail on the top.
I like it.
And mean it...really.
